my emulator blog

Emulators are not in my pleasure of playing computer games before and it’s bugging me of what it is. At first, when I was in high school, I considered it as a game that is not that fun because the gameplay is not that great. I didn’t know that it emulated the games that are popular and some that are not. Many of my classmates played it, introduced it to me and I find it, fun, when I actually played it. I’ve been playing it for years and now, I have some emulators that are stored in my computer.

The first emulator that I played was VBA which is an emulator of the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy, Super Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Some of the emulators that I stored were:

• NDS or NO$GBA which is for Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance and it supports most Nintendo DS homebrew. NO$GBA includes a variety of options for emulation, including multiple save types and multiple cartridge reading. It is able to load multiple VBA/NDS ROM.

• EPSXE, an emulator based from PS1 which you can play ROMs from a PlayStation console.

• A pc version of an arcade or an emulator for the Windows operating system that emulates the CPS-1, CPS-2, and the Neo Geo systems which is KAWAKS.

• A super Nintendo emulator called ZSNES.

• MUGEN which is an emulator for 2D fighting games.

• PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating system.

As far as I know, only the PCSX2 emulator needs minimum requirements of 2GHz dual core, 1 GB ram and a 256MB video card for best performance. I have been configuring the pcsx2 because some games can’t be played; each game needs to be configured. The rest of the emulator needs low end pc specification.

There are other emulators that I didn’t have because I haven’t found the stable version yet. I’ve been researching about the emulators and found that some are in the progress of programming it and some that haven’t programmed it because they need to study how it works or how to program the emulator.
